GPay Shutdown June 2026: Withdraw Balance Before Deadline

Grameenphone has officially announced the permanent shutdown of its mobile wallet service, GPay (G-Pay), effective June 30, 2026. If you have any balance in your GPay wallet, you must use it or withdraw it before this date, as the service will no longer be available afterward.

Why is GPay Shutting Down?

While Grameenphone hasn't detailed the specific reasons, the decision likely stems from the intensely competitive mobile financial services (MFS) market in Bangladesh.

The company is actively forging new partnerships to offer a broader range of digital financial services. Here are some recent developments:

Strategic Partnership with Nagad: Grameenphone has partnered with Nagad, enabling its 7.6 crore subscribers to easily open a Nagad account by dialing *167#. This move is a clear commitment to expanding digital financial inclusion.

Collaboration with upay: GP has also joined forces with upay, allowing customers to register for an account and recharge their mobile balance via the USSD code *268#. This service is particularly aimed at feature phone users, helping to bridge the digital divide.

Expansion of Payment Options: Grameenphone is expanding its payment ecosystem. It has launched a "cardless EMI" solution with PalmPay for purchasing smartphones and introduced a 'Pay Later' service with bKash, offering collateral-free nano-loans to buy 4G and 5G phones.

GPay users are advised to take immediate action. The discontinuation of GPay marks a shift in Grameenphone's digital strategy, but the good news is that users now have access to a wider range of advanced financial services through these new partnerships.
