Goodbye, Repetitive Clicks. Hello, Adobe’s Creative Assistant.

Goodbye, Repetitive Clicks. Hello, Adobe’s Creative Assistant.

Adobe just dropped a massive update that actually respects your time. On June 18, the company rolled out its creative agent as a public beta across Photoshop, Premiere, Illustrator, InDesign, and Frame.io. No more juggling between apps or wrestling with repetitive tasks — the AI Assistant now lives right inside your workspace as a chatbot-style sidebar.

What can it actually do?

In Premiere, import your footage and let the assistant sort assets into bins, batch-rename clips based on content, identify interview questions, sync multi-camera timecodes, and even assemble a rough cut. In Photoshop, describe what you need batch background removal, asset resizing, layer organization and it executes across the entire file. Illustrator handles multi-step production jobs like generating versioned files from spreadsheet data, while InDesign applies brand updates across layouts and runs print-readiness checks.

Firefly's AI studio got smarter too

The upgraded Firefly experience (currently in private beta) introduces Elements — a feature that lets you save characters, locations, and objects for reuse across projects. New creative skills include brand kit creation (logo, identity, color palette from a simple description), short product video generation, storyboard creation with video output, and Quick Cut for automatic rough edits.

What makes this different

This isn't about replacing human creativity. As Adobe's president David Wadhwani puts it, "Every creative now has an agent capable of helping them execute across every app and platform where they work so they can set the vision, apply their taste and make the calls that only they can". The agent handles the mechanical chores — the endless clicking, organizing, and exporting — so you can focus on craft, judgment, and the details that make your work distinctly yours.

Worth noting

Adobe is also bringing its creative tools to ChatGPT, Claude, Copilot, and Gemini, reaching hundreds of millions of users. And the Firefly creative AI studio experience is now in private beta with a waitlist at firefly.adobe.com/studio

The public beta is live now. Try it, break it, and let Adobe know what needs fixing that's what betas are for.
