Nothing OS 5.0 Drops August 25

Nothing OS 5.0 Drops August 25

Nothing just confirmed it: OS 5.0 lands on August 25 (that’s this Tuesday). Under the hood, it’s Android 17, but don’t expect a revolution. Think polish, not overhaul.

The Gallery beta already teased Live Blur and cleaner UI elements – that’s the vibe. The big ticket? Desktop Mode with free‑form windows, borrowed from Android 17. It’s basically DeX‑lite, but with Nothing’s USB 2.0 ports, external display performance might be so‑so. Also coming: lock screen widget stacks, a revamped volume slider, and deeper Glyph customisation.

AI gets a nudge too – more on‑device smarts, less reliance on third‑party apps.

Who gets it?

10 devices: Phone (4a), (4a) Pro, (4b), (3), (3a) series, (2a) series, and CMF Phone 2 Pro.

Who doesn’t?

Phone (1), Phone (2), and CMF Phone 1. They’re done with major updates, though security patches continue through mid‑2027.

A community beta is already running on Phone (3) – applications closed on August 17. Stable rollout? Likely November, following last year’s schedule. The 25th event should open beta registration to everyone.

That’s it. Short, sharp, and straight from the feed. Tuesday will fill in the gaps.
