The Rajshahi Divisional Commissioner has been immediately withdrawn from his post and made an Officer on Special Duty (OSD) following an alleged protocol breach during the Prime Minister’s departure from the city.
The official, identified as Md. Yusuf Ali, was removed on Tuesday night after a video surfaced showing him attempting to embrace the Prime Minister during a formal handshake at Shah Makhdum Airport. The interaction, which lasted only a few seconds, was quickly labeled by multiple national outlets as "unprofessional behavior" and a violation of strict security protocols.
In response, the Ministry of Public Administration issued an urgent notification, immediately relieving Ali of his duties. He has been attached to the ministry as an Additional Secretary (Deputation) and directed to hand over his responsibilities to Additional Divisional Commissioner (Revenue) Rezaul Alam Sarkar before leaving for Dhaka.
While the official notification did not explicitly cite the viral video as the reason for the transfer, the swift administrative action highlights the zero-tolerance policy for breaches of the Prime Minister's security detail. Yusuf Ali had been serving as the Divisional Commissioner of Rajshahi prior to this sudden removal.
